Freebies
I had to illegally trespass onto an old disused WW2 era Aerodrome in order to bring you my latest pack of free design resources, so this collection of rusty metal logo mockup textures is as authentically vintage as you can get! They’re perfect for mocking up your logos and designs onto worn surfaces to create realistic aged weathered effects. All you have to do is paste your artwork onto the Smart Object layer, then your design will be automatically distorted and distressed to simulate an old painted sign.
I have a special freebie for you to download today courtesy of Design Cuts. They’ve kindly donated a free sample pack from their new collection of Grungy Paper & Card textures for my readers to enjoy. The pack contains 5 high resolution texture images that are great for adding vintage overlays to your photos or providing a cool background for your designs.
I made a right mess of my scanner in order to bring you my latest set of free design resources! These dust & scratches textures are made to resemble the grain that is commonly seen on old film, providing an easy way to achieve that classic look with your modern digital images. They were made by rustling a tatty old hessian potato sack over my scanner to collect varying amounts of dust and fibre particles to create a series of 5 authentic textures in 300ppi JPEG and vector format.
The latest set of freebies I’ve been working on is a little unusual, but hopefully it will be the perfect resource for designers working on vintage style artwork based on the theme of BBQs, butchery, culinery or maybe even hunting. Download this free set of editable vector animal illustrations with hand lettering style text, similar to the traditional meat cut charts used by butchers.
Topographic map patterns seem to be really popular at the moment with designers who are wanting to capture the trendy vintage outdoors style in their work. They’re made up of lots of thin contour lines which bend and warp to form interesting shapes, which makes them great for filling out the background of your designs with a subtle pattern. A few weeks ago I showed you how to create a contour map effect using Illustrator’s Blend tool, since then I’ve been busy playing around with loads of different topographic map styles to produce this free pack of seamless repeating patterns for you to download.
I’ve been busy playing around with various photo effects once again to produce another free pack of retro style Photoshop Actions. This latest set named RetroFilters contains 10 preconfigured Action files that will dramatically transform your photos with retro style effects inspired by classic 35mm film and processing techniques.
