I’ve just caught news from the blog over at GoMedia that the latest vector set; Pack 9 has now been released. Featuring a range of scalable vector objects and textures including Hooladanders 3, Heraldry 2, Abstract Halftones, Western, Signs, The 80s and Flowers; a real useful addition to any designer’s toolbox.
As an avid cinema go’er I always enjoy keeping up to date on the upcoming movie releases, and as a designer I particularly enjoy checking out their movie poster artwork. Here is a compilation of upcoming movie posters for 2008 from IMP Awards with a range of different design styles.
After the popularity of the 1940s War Poster Inspiration post I thought I’d go right ahead and continue posting my interesting findings from the web. The latest of which is a collection of advertisements on the subject of Climate Change and Environmental Awareness discovered on Ads of The World.
These serve as great inspiration on how this all important message is put across in many different ways between the advertising campaigns. Often using shock tactics and metaphors which allow for some really creative posters.
I recently came across a library of US WW2 Posters and pulled out a selection of examples for as a showcase of inspiration. They each rely on the basics of design; composition, typography and colour (be it a limited palette of mostly black and red inks to conform to the available printing technologies) to put across a short and concise message with high visual impact.
Fabio from over at Abduzeedo posted a fantastic article on his blog; 2007 Graphic Design Inspiration. Featuring a collection of awe inspiring designs and artworks from a range of the top current designers, illustrators and artists. Here is a selection of my favourites!
Back in the Six Months of Blog.SpoonGraphics post I mentioned that I would like to find out a little more about the readers of the site. I've always been amazed at the diverse spread of visitors to the site from around the world so I've come up with this little community project for a bit of fun. Regular visitors may remember Frankenspoon, a downloadable free paper toy. It seems old Frankenspoon has proved quite popular after receiving many nice comments and messages of praise so I thought it would be great to combine him with this experiment. The aim is to have as many people as possible download and create their own Frankenspoon and then place a tagged photograph of him on the Flickr Map, let's see how many cities and countries we can cover across the globe!
