It’s that time of the week again when Access All Areas members get treated to yet another fantastic premium design resource. Today Ian Barnard from Vintage Design Co is back with another donation of his best selling kits. TexturePress is a compilation of Smart PSD, Photoshop Brushes and Textures that allow you to produce ultra cool ink stamp effects in your artwork. This kit makes it easy to create those trendy textured logos and lettering illustrations that you see on Dribbble and Instagram.
Access All Areas members can now download a brand new resource as part of their membership. Jeremy Child from The Artifex Forge has kindly donated his set of 30 hand rolled ink brushes for Illustrator. They add messy realism to your designs and are ideal for line art, text, borders, backgrounds and for texturing designs and illustrations. Being Illustrator Brushes means they’re 100% vector too, so you can use them in all your projects no matter how large!
Last month, Simon Birky Hartmann kindly donated volume 1 of his Ultimate Brown Paper Texture Pack for Access All Areas members to download. From today, members can now enjoy a whole new set of 15 super high resolution texture files of brown paper bags with varying degrees of grain, creases and folds to give your designs a craft inspired vibe. At 5,090×7,000 pixels @ 600 dpi these professional quality textures have a high enough resolution for the largest of print designs.
I’ve been admiring some beautiful illustrations and examining the techniques the artists use to add details to their work. One popular shading method I’ve noticed is particularly prominent in apparel design and illustrations with a retro vibe is the use of stippling, where fine vector textures are added to build up tones and shade in areas of darkness. After seeing how effective this technique is, I created my own set of Illustrator scatter brushes to provide myself and my readers the tools required to create this effect. They’re perfect for quickly creating merchandise such as t-shirt designs, or for any product or project where you need to knock up a quick logo.
