Access All Areas members have a brilliant collection of photocopy noise textures to download this week, courtesy of Simon Birky Hartmann from The Shop. These six textures have been lovingly crafted with an old laser copier with an increasingly faulty drum and toner combo. They each have subtle variations in the dust and noise patterns that add depth to your designs. This updated collection now also includes transparent PNG and bitmap TIFF variants of each of the textures, which are ideal for fast usage in both Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
Textures are a common addition to vintage style logo designs and type designs. Designers use them to mimic the aesthetics of old prints and handmade art to give their digital artwork more of a tactile appearance. There’s a number of techniques that can be used to apply textures to your designs in Adobe Photoshop, using built-in filters and effects, or tools such as textures and Photoshop Brushes. In today’s tutorial I show three ways you can distress your logos and text, each resulting in a slightly different appearance.
Nostalgic visual effects that replicate old analogue film are usually seen in video format, but the same techniques can be applied to static images to give your photographs and design work a retro aesthetic. Dust, noise and colour distortions were originally unwanted problems associated with film, but now we purposely distress our artwork with those same imperfections to give clean digital designs a classic appearance. My new set of free resources contains 25 textures that combine bright colours and real dust speckles to simulate film grain and light leaks. They’re great for overlaying onto your images, or for use as backgrounds to form the foundation of a design.

They’re brilliant resources for all kinds of design projects to add interesting backgrounds, or colourful overlays to your artwork. Each file is an extra large 5616x3744px in size, making them great assets for designs destined for both print and web.

These 10 vintage fabric textures cover a range of textiles from denim varieties to standard t-shirt material, they are all high quality full page images available in both vector EPS and transparent PNG formats. Use them to add some good old vintage flavour to your designs in Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop and most other design and image editing software.
This set of texture graphics is MAGIC… Well not really, but kind of! If you’re an Adobe Illustrator fan I’m sure you love creating vector art. It can be scaled to any size and it’s easy to change the fill colour, unlike raster images. Unfortunately when it comes to textures, thousands of tiny vector paths and points can soon bog down your system, but what if there was a magical CPU friendly raster texture that was just as versatile as your favourite vector graphics? Introducing my Magic Bitmap Textures for Adobe Illustrator.
