Video Tutorial: Dripping Glossy Text Effect in Photoshop

Last week I showed you how to create a slimy text effect in Adobe Illustrator, so I thought I’d cover a similar topic this week but in Photoshop instead. The vector Illustrator artwork is quite flat, whereas you can achieve much more realism with gradients and filters in Photoshop. The effect we’ll be producing in this tutorial is a glossy text effect made out of some kind of gooey yellow substance!

  1. I love the glossy text tutorial! very nice. I had one concept I’ve not been able to get as nice as I’d like, and I think it’d pair well with this tutorial, which is how to achieve a citrus texture on lettering. (wet citrus).. just an idea, there are some resources out there but none of them as clean as how you demonstrate it. Thanks for all the great content!

  2. Thanks for this tutorial. I was thinking that I could use a similar technique to create shiny, gold lettering. But do you think something like this will translate well to printed material?
