We all need to earn a living, so here’s how I make mine…
I sometimes make money from commercial relationships with other companies to pay the bills and support the free content I share on Spoon Graphics. Legally I’ve got to ensure my readers know when they’re being advertised to, but it’s nice to be totally transparent so you don’t feel like you’re being tricked, deceived, hoodwinked or misled.
You will see a notice above my content whenever it contains affiliate links or sponsorships, but what exactly does it mean?
Affiliate Links
Affiliate Links basically let the supplier know you were referred to them by me. If you follow my link to a product or deal I promote and decide to buy it, I receive a cut of the sale. It doesn’t cost you anything extra, the price you pay is the same regardless.
Sponsored Content
Sponsored content is when a company gives me financial compensation to provide an endorsement or promote their product. I only accept sponsorships from established brands in the design industry.

Can I opt out of advertisements?
I’m afraid it’s all-or-nothing. In order to continue providing free content I have to earn some revenue by other means. You can of course unsubscribe from my mailing list at any time (an unsubscribe link is provided at the bottom of every newsletter). My regular content is still available directly on Spoon Graphics.
How often will I receive advertisements?
I reserve one broadcast per week for promotional content, but my availability isn’t always filled. However, sometimes I might be cheeky and send two promotions in one week on the odd occasion!
How do I know if you really recommend a product or whether you’re just doing it for the money?
I’m very particular about the promotions I accept. It will always be a product or service I would (or do) use myself, or that I think my audience might find useful.
What if I have a bad experience with a brand you promote?
I only take on promotions from legitimate companies from the design industry, but if on the rare occasion you haven’t received what you expected, reach out to me and I’ll try and help get the dispute resolved. I will reject any future sponsorships from brands that have broken my (or your) trust.
How much do you make from advertising?
Enough to keep the site running and provide a comfortable life for me and my family. As an insight, it costs over $1000 per month just to send out my newsletters!
